Named for the Indian term meaning “deep beautiful water”. Lake Chelan is one of the deepest lakes in the United States. Lake Chelan is 50.5 miles of deep blue pristine water that is fed by several glaciers up and around Stehekin. Chelan became famous across the nation in 1944 when a young Elizabeth Taylor starred in “Courage to Lassie”, filmed in Stehekin.
By the mid-1960s, Chelan started to become a vacation destination for thousands of tourist each year. Although the Lake Chelan Valley continues to grow, it is still the small town on the lake. On this website, I hope to help you not only love the beauty but to see all that is available here. If you're interested in activities during the summer or winter, visiting one of the 21 wineries or simply looking to relocate to this beautiful part of Washington, the information is here.

Here in Chelan County and Douglas County we cover the cities of Chelan, Manson, Chelan Falls, Pateros, Brewster, Entiat, Orondo, Wenatchee and East Wenatchee.
